Week 4 brings a room win featuring Porta.

Tom & Sarah-Jane
Each week, Tom and Sarah-Jane feature beautiful Porta decorative timber mouldings in their stunning room reveals on The Block. And this week was no exception.

Pairing traditional timber mouldings with earthy tones and textures, Tom and Sarah-Jane delivered the winning master bedroom.

By embracing period features, such as wainscoting, and continuing to add their contemporary twist, the couple has created a beautiful and inviting space.

The Block judges, Shaynna Blaze, Neale Whitaker and Darren Palmer were impressed. In particular, Shaynna was impressed with how clever Tom and Sarah-Jane have been with their design and budget.

"Just doing this chair rail wainscoting and paint everywhere else, not going over the top so that they can actually do the beautiful cornicing," she said.

Neale echoed Shaynna’s sentiments. "I love it... it's so beautifully done," he said.

"I feel Tom and Sarah-Jane are really nailing this aesthetic that we're calling new rural. To me, this is what that looks like," Neale gushed.

Tom and Sarah-Jane’s winning master bedroom features Porta Insert Moulds, Panel Moulds, Dado Rail and Colonial Architrave.

Porta’s decorative wall trims add depth, dimension and character and are perfect to enhance your room’s design. Whether your home is classic, retro, colonial or modern in style, decorative wall trims can be used to enhance your room’s design like Tom and Sarah-Jane’s winning master bedroom.

Rachel & Ryan
Rachel and Ryan created a warm and cosy master bedroom on The Block this week, layering natural materials with colour and texture.

Adding architectural interest to a room of any style, Porta timber mouldings can be used to complement simple and minimalistic designs or to create more classic and elaborate detailing.

Darren commented he was a fan of every element in the room. "This has a neutral palette that is all based on wood, stone – natural elements," he explained.

"It feels like country without having to have the green from outside inside. Every element in here I'm two thumbs up," Darren said excitedly.

Rachel and Ryan featured Porta Cover Strap on the wall behind their four-poster bed, adding subtle tactility to the space.

This was a clever use of Cover Straps as they are typically used to finish the edges of boards, shelving, and benchtops. They can also be used to cover the butted joints of sheet material such as plywood and cement sheet.

This application created a stunning feature wall in Rachel and Ryan’s master bedroom.

Dylan & Jenny
This week on The Block, Dylan and Jenny created a charming master bedroom using beautiful decorative timber mouldings.

Decorative timber mouldings can be designed to blend into the background or become the focal point of the room. Different effects can also be created with timber mouldings - influencing the overall look and feel of a room.

"This has got a completely different vibe again," Neale complemented. "We've almost got a sort of luxe-deco feel going on in here.”

"It's a different interpretation of the country aesthetic and it nails the brief yet again,” he adds.

Dylan and Jenny featured wainscoting on the lower portion of their walls using Porta Panel Mould.

Porta’s decorative wall mouldings are available in a range of profiles, sizes, and timber species.

Continuing with their modern country design style, Tom and Sarah-Jane featured Porta decorative timber mouldings in their home for the third consecutive week.

Neale Whitaker added, "Isn't this beautiful?"

"It just feels so right to me, it really does," Neale said of the space.

Creating a tactile backdrop to their functional master ensuite, Tom and Sarah-Jane used Porta Panel Moulds to cap the wall tiles and frame the mirrors.

Neale continued his positive feedback on the master ensuite, "It's a very contemporary bathroom, but it's got that beautiful timeless quality as well that makes it just feel so appropriate for this house, for this style of architecture. And the colour palette... (sighs) it's perfect."

"I get the feeling that this couple really knows what they're doing. It's a strong start, a beautiful start and a high bar," Neale said.

"Their execution and beautiful construction... you can't fault it," Block Judge Shaynna Blaze said.

Painted the same colour as the wall, the timber mouldings add depth, style and interest to the room - reducing the need for furnishings and accessories to fill the room.  "It's lush, it's luxury, it's heaven. I'm in love," Shaynna said.

Neale Whitaker added, "If you were a guest in this bedroom, you would never want to leave."

A clever application of Porta Panel Moulds as Panel Moulds were traditionally used to hide wall joins or seams and are now typically used for decorative purposes. Porta’s decorative timber is durable and extremely hard wearing, creating an elegant and timeless look and feel.

The second couple to feature Porta Timber Mouldings in their guest rooms this week was Tom and Sarah-Jane. The couple paired traditional timber mouldings with a contemporary colour palette for a fresh take on modern country.

Their design incorporated painted traditional decorative mouldings in a contemporary colour palette adding a modern twist to period features. Block Judge Darren Palmer highlighted Tom and Sarah-Jane’s inclusion of heritage touches including the decorative wall panels.

"All the detailing is really simple, I love this wainscotting idea. [The wall] is just gyprock with some quad (timber panel moulding) – it's such a simple, easy, cheap way to make a wall look really glamorous," Darren explained.

"I love how it lines up underneath the window there and those plantation shutters have a place to really shine and frame that beautiful view."

Block Judge Neale Whitaker commended the couple’s interior design skills "Tom and Sarah-Jane are demonstrating a real level of sophistication".

The use of Porta’s decorative timber wall mouldings is a great way of creating a sense of luxe heritage in the space. Timber mouldings are also durable and extremely hard wearing.

Week 1 Guest Bathroom

Tom and Sarah-Jane delivered a divine modern country bathroom on The Block this week using decorative Porta timber mouldings to complement the heritage of their home.

Embracing period features and giving it contemporary edge with colour and styling adds depth, dimension, and elegance to any room.

As well as looking impressive, decorative timber wall mouldings are hard wearing and durable.

In their guest bathroom, Tom and Sarah-Jane featured Porta Insert Moulds and Colonial Skirting. Traditionally, Insert Moulds were used to hide joins or seams and are now typically used for decoration. Colonial Skirting boards are designed to hide the seam where the wall meets the floor and are perfect for complementing the period features of a home.

The Block judges Shaynna Blaze, Neale Whitaker and Darren Palmer were blown away by how well the modern country bathroom worked from a functional and design perspective.

"Wow," Neale said when he entered the space. "This bathroom feels like a contemporary bathroom, but a bathroom that is completely appropriate for this country location, completely appropriate for the era of the house."

Available in Tasmanian Oak and Clear Pine in a variety of sizes, Porta Insert Mouldings are generally fixed to a wall or door surface in a mitred configuration.

Featuring the Colonial TABMA AS.10 or TABMA AS.2 profile design, Porta Colonial Architrave serves as a decorative feature around door frames and windows, and can be used for skirting boards. Tom and Sarah-Jane featured Colonial TABMA AS.2 Architrave in Primed Pine in their bathroom.

Porta’s Primed Finger Jointed Pine is pre-coated with two coats of a specially developed water-based primer that appears matte white. The timber is ready to finish with a top coat of acrylic or solvent based coating in your preferred gloss grade - matt, semi-gloss or full gloss. There is no need to apply an undercoat – saving you time and money. Just select your paint colour and apply!

Porta’s Primed Finger Jointed Pine is suitable for wet areas with appropriate protection.
