What is ‘primed FJ pine’?
Finger Jointed Pine, also known as FJ Pine, is made by using individual pieces of Clear Pine with interlocking fingers that are joined together with adhesive – providing FJ Pine with enhanced strength and stability. The interlocking fingers create a neat zig zag effect at the join.
Porta’s Primed FJ Pine is pre-coated with two coats of a specially developed water-based primer that appears matte white. The timber is sanded between coats of primer and is ready to finish with a top coat of acrylic or solvent based coating in your preferred gloss grade - matt, semi-gloss or full gloss. There is no need to apply an undercoat – saving you time and money. Just select your paint colour and apply!
TIP: Porta Primed FJ Pine is ready to finish with a top coat of acrylic or solvent based coating. It is good practice to fill any nail holes or marks first. Lightly sand with 600 grade aluminium oxide paper and wipe down before applying a finish top coat.
Primed Pine is very easy to work using standard tools and its low density means it holds nails and screws very well.

Porta Primed Pine Contours are available in a range of profiles including the undulating curves of Riverine, the fluted richness of Cirque, the strong lines of Strata, and the soft, scalloping curves of Valley.
Uses & Projects
As a textured canvas, Contours in Primed Pine soften long, sleek lines and are perfect as a feature in a residential or commercial project, such as in the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, hallway, lounge, dining room, ceiling accent, or reception desk - adding richness and depth to the material palette.
Contours can also be used to clad bathroom and kitchen cabinetry, TV and entertainment units, bedheads, dining tables, and doors as well as creating concealed doorways for a seamless finish.
Pre-primed timber lining boards can be fixed directly onto prepared plasterboard, timber, steel, brick, or masonry wall surfaces and finished with your chosen paint colour.
Contours are suitable for curves down to a 1000mm radius. For tighter curves, down to a 500mm radius, matching corner beads for select profiles are available.
