Choose Forests, Choose FSC®

We are proud to participate in the FSC® Forest Week 2022 campaign by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®). The campaign highlights the value of forests and how choosing sustainably-sourced products can help create resilient forests for the future.

Who are the FSC®?

The FSC® helps take care of forests and the people and wildlife that call them home.

The FSC® is a global, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of responsible forest management worldwide. FSC® defines standards based on agreed principles for responsible forest stewardship that are supported by environmental, social, and economic stakeholders. The FSC® label on products means that product has been responsibly sourced.

Porta holds Chain of Custody under the FSC®. Chain of Custody refers to all the steps in the process - from the timber grown in our forests through to the manufacturing process, distribution channels, and the end consumer.

For a product (or project) to be labelled as being made from certified timber an unbroken chain is required.

FSC® Forest Week 2022

The theme of the campaign this year is “Choose Forests. Choose FSC®”. By choosing FSC®-certified products, you are helping to protect forests and all the life they sustain.

Forests play a key role in combatting climate change and supporting biodiversity. Many products and daily necessities come from forests. Therefore, FSC® promotes sustainable forest management so forests and people can thrive. FSC® provides the world’s most rigorous and trusted forest certification system and is trusted by NGOs, businesses and consumers to help protect healthy, resilient forests for all, forever.

Chain of Custody

As consumers, we are becoming more aware of the global decline in forest areas, the negative impact of unsustainable practices and illegal forest products. Chain of Custody enables you to make informed decisions about where you purchase your timber products from – sustainable and environmentally responsible sources.
