Australia is seen to be embracing Brazilian Modernism as a design influence, which often translates well due to our similar climatic conditions.
Design commentator Rebecca Gross observes, “Brazilian architects were influenced and inspired by the European modernist movement, but took a regional perspective, adapting it for the subtropical climate…The result is a Brazilian modernist vernacular characterised by sweeping concrete structures wrapped with long timber screens, and lofty, airy spaces that blur indoors and out.”
We take a look at one of the acclaimed masters – Marcio Kogan. As the leading architect for São Paulo based firm Studio MK27, Kogan is renowned for crafted details, simplicity, passive design and creating strong relationship between inside and out.
Cumaru timber has been used extensively in projects, Mororó House & MM House. The timber is popular due to its durability, termite resistance and golden brown tones. Our Porta Cumaru is supplied from FSC certified forests, where sustainable practices ensure forests for future generations.
