Relocating a window meant that Katrina and Jesse from The Reno Life were able to maximise their wardrobe storage and create a better design for their master bedroom.
“With a small, but sufficient, master bedroom we wanted to find a way to add some excitement to the room,” explains Katrina. “We decided relocating a window was the way to do it.”
“We barely had enough width for a bedside table and wanted to add the warmth of timber to the room,” says Katrina. “So, for a couple of hundred extra dollars, we turned our standard order window into a bench seat/bedside table combo.”
Having converted a small window in their living room into a larger window with a built-in bench seat, Katrina and Jesse used a similar process for their bedroom window.
“We made the deep reveals and then clad the seat structure in Porta Contours timber lining boards in Cirque,” says Katrina. “This is a nod to the same profile we used in the kitchen, and it also ties into our timber pendant in the ensuite just to the right of this.”
As a fluted textured canvas, Porta Contours in Cirque are perfect as a feature in a kitchen, bedroom, hallway, lounge, or dining room - adding warmth, movement and richness to the material palette.
Softening and complementing strong lines, Cirque can also be used to clad cabinetry and doors as well as creating concealed doorways for a seamless finish.
With its consistent tongue and groove joint, Cirque can be used in conjunction with any other Contours profile to create a unique design. Cirque is also suitable for curves down to a 1000mm radius. For tighter curves, down to a 500mm radius, a matching corner bead is available.
“Sometimes a small tweak can make a huge difference,” explains Katrina. “Relocating the window also allowed us to get four times more wardrobe storage.”
