Decorative timber wall mouldings are a great way to add depth and dimension to a plain wall, creating a beautiful backdrop for your furnishings and fittings.
As a tactile backdrop, timber mouldings can also add new life to a room – like this contemporary room inspired by raw, natural materials.
To allow natural grain and variation of the timber mouldings to stand out, we left them unfinished (you could paint them in a contrasting colour instead). To make the room appear larger, paint the wall and trims in the same colour.
Whether your home is classic, retro, colonial or modern in style, decorative wall trims can be used to enhance your room’s design.
To get started:
Style the urban geometric design with raw natural materials and contemporary pieces.
Cover nail holes and blemishes in timber mouldings with wood filler. Push the filler into the hole, smooth it over, and lightly sand before applying your final finish. There is a wide range of readily available wood fillers that are tinted to suit the colour of the timber, which is ideal for staining purposes. Plain filler can be used if painting the timber.
Once you bring your mouldings home, acclimatise them at room temperature for 24 hours prior to installation. This minimises movement when they are installed.
