Week 10 pairs Porta timber in a guest bedroom.

Dylan & Jenny
Guest Bedroom

Wowing the judges with their spring inspired colour palette and tactile finishes, Dylan and Jenny’s guest bedroom feature beautiful Porta Contours timber lining boards.

Pairing perfectly with waffle bed linen and rattan bedside tables, the fluted timber panelling, painted in a subtle sage tone, was a hit with The Block judges.

Shaynna Blaze was impressed with the various textures on display in the room. "It's just all about textures," she said. "The fluted panelling on the wall, the beautiful patterning on the side lamps, the waffle on the blanket and pillows and the backboard... the texture in here is gorgeous."

Selecting Porta Contours Cirque in Primed Pine for their room, Dylan and Jenny received high praise from Neale Whitaker. "Everything works beautifully," he said. "House 4 is feeling very luxe, very contemporary country... it's ticking a lot of boxes for me, and I think it's going to tick a lot of boxes for a potential buyer."

Inspired by the Blue Lake in the Snowy Mountain region of New South Wales, the fluted profile of Cirque adds warmth, movement, and richness to any space.

Softening and complementing strong lines, Cirque is ideal for straight and curved interior wall applications. Cirque can also be used to clad cabinetry and doors, as well as creating concealed doorways for a seamless finish.

With its consistent tongue and groove joint, Cirque can be used in conjunction with any other Contours profile to create a unique design.

The Porta Contours range is also available in Tasmanian Oak and Clear Pine.

Week 9 guest bedroom week incorporates Porta timber in a nursery setting.

Tom & Sarah-Jane
Guest Bedroom

Tom and Sarah-Jane created a charming nursery featuring beautiful Porta timber mouldings this week on The Block.

Elegant and timeless, wainscoting is the perfect way to add depth, dimension, and character to plain walls. To make the wainscoting stand out, Tom and Sarah-Jane painted the lower portion of the walls in a pretty pastel green.

For a monochromatic look, paint decorative wall trims the same colour as your wall. This will also make the room appear larger. For a more dramatic look, try a darker shade of your favourite colour.

"Nothing says a family home like a nursery," Shaynna Blaze said, looking around the room.

Shaynna also loved that the architectural details matched the rest of the home so well. "It has got that eye for detail, that precision and that consistency which has come to be Tom and Sarah-Jane's trademark," Neale Whitaker added.

This style of decorative wall trim is easy to apply and can be used in almost any room in a home. Wainscoting can be simple and streamlined for a minimalist effect or elaborate and decorative.

Tom and Sarah-Jane selected Porta Panel Mould in Clear Pine for their room. Clear Pine is easy to work with and accepts paint well.

By layering colours and textures, you can achieve a warm, welcoming, and stylish look.

Laundry, Mud Room & Hallway

Rachel and Ryan delivered the winning laundry / mudroom and hallway this week on The Block. Pairing neutral tones with subtle textures, the couple featured beautiful Porta Contours in Cirque in their breezeway entry ceiling, hallway nook, and mudroom.

Perfectly offsetting the blend of contemporary and country finishes, Porta Contours timber lining boards were a hit with the judges.

Shaynna Blaze noted that the hallway nook tied both the old and new parts of the home together in an effective way. "It's a good contemporary mix of the rustic of the timber and the hat stand and hat hooks. They work together," she said.

Neale Whitaker added that he loved the Porta fluted timber wall lining behind the nook.

Rachel and Ryan’s breezeway also featured a Porta Contours fluted ceiling that Neale loved. "And loving that fluted profile here too," he said. "Visually that's gorgeous. It almost creates the impression of an old-fashioned corrugated roof."

"And that's where the old and the new meet," Shaynna added.

"It's like the old-fashioned verandah of the old house. I like that." Neale added.

Porta Contours are available in a range of textured designs in Tasmanian Oak, Clear Pine, or Primed Pine. They can also be used in conjunction with any other Contours profile to create a unique design.

Selecting Porta Contours Ridges, in Clear Pine, the ceiling effortless flows from the hallway to the stunning kitchen.

"It's beautiful," Darren Palmer added.

Darren commented that Omar and Oz have produced a hallway that feels like luxury from end to end. "It's absolutely divine," Shaynna concluded.

Porta’s certified Clear Pine is select grade, which features very few marks and natural characteristics, making it a stronger, cleaner and more versatile timber. Clear Pine is suitable for use in wet areas with an oil-based undercoat or stain finish.

Dylan and Jenny created a warm and welcoming hallway this week using neutral tones and wainscoting on the lower portion of their walls.

Wainscoting allows you to add depth, dimension, and character to plain walls. It’s also a great way to create interest with minimal furnishings and accessories.

As soon as The Block judges walked into the hallway, their faces lit up with delight.

"Wow... this is so cool!" Darren Palmer said. "It's got all the period-esque details, but it feels crisp and modern."

A variety of decorative timber mouldings can be used to create wainscoting. Dylan and Jenny selected Porta Panel Moulds to create their modern country inspired space.

"Close to perfection," Darren concluded.

Porta decorative wall mouldings are available in a range of profiles, sizes, and timber species. A custom moulding service is also available to help you create the custom look that suits your style.

Tom & Sarah-Jane

Continuing to deliver a consistent ‘country chic’ style throughout their home, Tom and Sarah-Jane paired traditional timber mouldings with contemporary finishes in their hallway and laundry this week.

"I love their style," Shaynna Blaze commented as she ran her hand across the wainscoting in the hallway.

Timber mouldings are one of the most versatile design components of a room. When used creatively, they add depth, character and detail that can be hard to match.

"They've just hit that sweet spot aesthetically that these houses need, and they're so consistent as well," Neale Whitaker said.

Challenge House.

Tim & Tyler’s Bedrooms

Challenge time! Each week, the Blockheads complete a challenge for a chance to win a cash injection for their house budgets.

No challenges were more important than a challenge like this.

Answering a call for help from their neighbour Kay, the Blockheads renovated a three-bedroom home in Gisborne over two weeks.

Kay asked The Block for help renovating a home where her son Tim and his best friend Tyler live. Tim and Tyler have special needs and live independently.

As part of the brief, the challenge home needed to be more modern, safe, and user-friendly for Tim and Tyler to maintain their happy household for many years to come.

Putting their own renovations on hold, The Block contestants delivered a stunning home, including updated bedrooms, personalised for the boys.

Team One embraced Tim’s love of water. Painted in an ocean blue, the walls feature Porta Contours timber lining boards paired with an ocean wave graphic wallpaper. Tying in the new design and the calming blue colour palate, Tim also received new furniture styled with some of his favourite items.

For Tyler’s bedroom, Team Two installed new carpet and blinds, set beautifully with a feature Porta Contours wall. This was complemented with themed wallpaper, new furniture, and memorabilia from Tyler’s favourite football team.

Both teams featured Porta Contours Riverine in Primed Pine for their bedrooms, creating a calming, textured effect for Tim and Tyler.

Locally crafted and inspired by the rolling mountains surrounding Ormiston Gorge in the Northern Territory, Porta Contours in Riverine add natural warmth, texture, and movement to create calming atmospheres or vibrant patterns.

As a textured canvas, Riverine softens long, sleek lines and is perfect as a feature in a kitchen, bedroom, hallway, lounge, or dining room. With its soft, undulating curves, an interesting shadow play is created over its contours in changing light.

Contours in Primed Pine are fast and easy to install and are ready to paint in a top coat to complement your space.

Week 6 kitchen features Porta Contours.

Omar & Oz
Omar and Oz created an elegant and moody statement kitchen with a stunning Porta Contours feature timber ceiling.

Inspired by their surroundings in the Macedon Ranges, Omar and Oz wanted to bring the outside in - embracing nature whilst adding depth and richness to their open plan kitchen space. Using Porta Contours timber lining boards in the Ridges profile, Omar and Oz added natural warmth, texture, and organic movement to their kitchen.

Pairing the Porta timber ceiling with a dark colour palette and sheer curtains, The Block judges praised their choice of finishes. Shaynna Blaze adored the detail in the ceiling stating that the timber was the perfect contrast against a mostly grey palette.

Porta Contours in Ridges are inspired by the dramatic escarpment cliffs of the breathtaking Kakadu, Northern Territory. Combining strong linear movement with the natural warmth of timber, Omar and Oz selected Ridges in Clear Pine with a stained finish.

"There's just so much here to ignite the senses," said Shaynna, praising Oz and Omar’s selections.

"This kitchen is going to sell this house," Darren Palmer commented.

Despite it being a country home, the judges agreed that Omar and Oz's contemporary style suited the architecture of the house completely.

"It's pretty spectacular," Neale Whitaker said upon entering their kitchen space.

Sourced from sustainable and environmentally responsible resources, Contours are available in a range of textured profiles in Tasmanian Oak, Clear Pine, and Primed Pine.

Designed for a seamless finish and ease of installation, Porta Contours timber lining boards feature a secret fix tongue and groove connection and can be used in conjunction with other Contours profiles to create a custom design.

Week 5 brings another room win featuring Porta.

Tom & Sarah-Jane
Continuing their dream run, Tom and Sarah-Jane delivered a winning guest bedroom on The Block this week.

This is the fifth consecutive week the couple featured beautiful Porta timber products in their house.

Blending country style with a sleek modern edge, Tom and Sarah-have Jane received positive feedback from The Block judges.

"I have loved everything that Tom and Sarah-Jane have done so far, but not as much as I've loved this,” commented Darren Palmer.

With a strong design eye, Tom and Sarah-Jane used contemporary Porta Half Splayed Skirting to contrast beautifully with the striking country-inspired wallpaper.

Featuring a sleek profile for clean lines, Half Splayed Skirting hides the gap where the wall meets the floor. It can also be used as architrave (trim) to create interest around door frames and windows.

The designer feel was agreed upon by all the judges, "It feels like that perfect Ralph Lauren country house," Darren added.

Tom and Sarah-Jane selected a skirting size that is proportional to the ceiling height of their guest bedroom. However, selecting architrave or skirting size is an individual choice. Generally, large skirtings work well with higher ceilings. To create contrast, select an architrave one size down.
